Our Family
Andy Roush Co-Founder Andy Roush grew up on an old dairy farm in Howell, Michigan. He completed his undergrad studies at Alma College and then went on to attend the American Graduate School of International Management in Glendale, Arizona. After graduating with his Master’s Degree, Andy missed the seasons of Northern Michigan. He made the trip back to Michigan and worked as a project manager in Corporate America and then spent many years in finance. Northern Michigan was always a favorite place for Andy and he thought it would be a dream come true if one day he could live and work there. Andy is thankful to have seen his dream come true and truly enjoys growing and harvesting the fruits of his labor at Petoskey Farms Vineyard & Winery. His favorite wine is Marquette.
Tracie Roush Co-Founder Tracie Roush grew up in the small town of Amherst, Ohio. She too worked in Corporate America after graduating with her Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing and Business Management. Her father was a builder all her life, so she enjoyed working with tools when she wasn’t behind the computer or out on sales calls. Tracie's favorite was Late Harvest Riesling when Petoskey Farms first opened its doors, but over the years her palate has changed. Her favorite now? Tied between Petoskey White and Romance. Chaz Judy Head Wine Maker Chaz made wine in the greater Kansas City area for fifteen years specializing in Hybrid, Mead, Port Style, Fruit Wines and Hard Ciders. He has always had a strong belief that the best wines come from well cared for vineyards, which is why he enjoys spending as much time as he can in the vines. After discovering the vast and bountiful wine scene in the rolling hills of Michigan, the opportunity to enhance his winemaking was offered with the Head Winemaking position at Petoskey Farms Vineyard and Winery. Chaz describes it as the perfect fit, and says the Petoskey Farms family and friends he and his family have come to meet and work with are the essence of joy and happiness. He looks forward to bringing his open and focused approach to the winemaking scene of northern Michigan. Cooking for his family and friends, blacksmithing, fishing, and discovering the ripples of all things outside are things Chaz has a passion for, and he's looking forward to growing deep roots with his local community. Derrick Vogel Vineyard Manager Derrick Vogel has been the vineyard manager at Petoskey Farms Vineyard and Winery since 2019. Derrick and his wife own Phenology Vine Care, a small vineyard management business, and are starting their own winery, Folklor Wine and Cider. Derrick found his way to viticulture after a ten year career performing diagnostic testing in healthcare laboratories. He has a Bachelor of Science degree in clinical laboratory science and a Master’s degree in healthcare administration. Derrick completed a two year viticulture and winemaking apprenticeship program in November 2020, including coursework through the Viticulture & Enology Science & Technology (VESTA) program. Derrick is driven by the challenge of growing in the Tip of the Mitt AVA. He is currently managing close to 30 acres in the Tip of the Mitt and plans to grow 25 - 35 acres of grapevines, apple and pear trees at his Folklor site in Charlevoix. Derrick is passionate about wine from all over the world but is especially drawn to wines grown and produced in Michigan.
Rachel Griffith
General Manager Rachel Griffith grew up in Grand Rapids, MI and graduated from Hope College in May of 2021 with her B.A. in Business and Communication. Fueled by her love of wine, northern Michigan, and by the grace of God, she moved up to Petoskey to begin her career as Andy and Tracie's apprentice and co-manager of the tasting room. She enjoys learning all about wine, the business, and loves getting to know the wonderful people who come to the winery. Fast forward 2 and half years later, Rachel was promoted to be the General Manager and got married a few months after that! Her favorite wine is a toss up among the dry reds, and outside of work she loves spending time with her husband and friends, especially when it involves activities like hiking, boating, game nights, and of course, drinking wine.
Andy and Tracie's oldest daughter, Natalie, graduated from college in May of 2023 with her B.A. in Business Administration and Marketing from Spring Arbor University, and brought her favorite beverage to our menu at the winery—coffee! She co-managed the campus coffee shop, wrote a business plan, and spent some time in Costa Rica during her final year where she was able to learn and get hands-on experience at her host family's coffee plantation. It seems like yesterday when she started working at the farm at 10 years old. How time does fly!
